Lance Sasser

Senior Associate

I knew at a pretty young age I wanted to be involved with real estate at some level.

Fortunately, Portland State University offered a degree in Commercial Real Estate Finance where courses were taught by local real estate professionals.  Unfortunately, I graduated in 2008 in the depths of the “Great Recession” and was attempting to pursue a career in commercial real estate, an industry that was in obvious turmoil.  Bad timing to say the least.  Most real estate companies were cutting costs and eliminating positions; however Capital Pacific decided to strengthen their platform and invest in the future knowing that calmer waters were on the horizon.

Since I started with Capital Pacific, I’ve been involved in over 500 assignments with transaction volume totaling over $2.5B, from single-tenant coffee kiosks to large regional power centers and everything in between. And after all these years, I am truly looking forward to the next 500.

What's the best thing about working at Capital Pacific?

I’ve been fortunate to have been able to log some serious mileage around the Pacific Northwest. It may sound hard to believe but over the past several years I’ve driven over 28,000 miles, snapped 50,000 pictures and visited more than 430 cities in 6 states. I’ve quite literally been to every corner of our region; from Williston, ND to Brookings, OR and from Sheridan, WY to Soldotna, AK. When cataloging by car didn’t make sense, I went by foot. I’ve logged more miles by foot than 8 full marathons in cities like Seattle, Portland, Bellevue, Tacoma, Spokane and Boise. I’ve truly enjoyed the opportunity to really get out and see this beautiful part of our country, and the first-hand knowledge I’ve gained is priceless to our company, and more importantly, our clients. If you have questions about areas you may be unfamiliar with or just want to chat about your local market, feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email.

What’s different about your approach to the business?

For many of our clients, their commercial real estate assets are their prize possessions and their livelihood. My approach is to always view their properties in the same way. I never make even the smallest of single-tenant properties feel like a commodity and always treat every assignment as a trophy asset.

What is your secret to an ultra productive day?

It may sound cliché but a full 8 hours of sleep, some healthy food and vitamins and a solid dose of old-fashioned exercise can truly make you feel 10 years younger.
