CP Exchange | Seattle 2017

March 2nd marked the fifth annual CP Exchange held, this year, in Seattle, WA.
This exclusive client event, hosted by Capital Pacific, brought together commercial real estate’s largest movers and shakers in the industry for a candid conversation on emerging development, investment and leasing trends in real estate. Located in the urban industrial space of 415 Westlake, the evening began with an energetic cocktail hour, featuring beer tastings with Hellbent Brewing Company. Afterwards, the group settled in for a panel-led conversation moderated by Sean Tufts and Michael Horwitz of Capital Pacific.

The Panel:

Fred Bruning |  CenterCal Properties

Jim Alexander |  Merlone Geier Partners

Jason White | White- Leasure Development

Insights from the Panel:

“The only two people that are always lying to you are the ones who are saying ‘it’ll never get this good again’ or ‘it’ll never get this bad again.”

– Fred Bruning, on market cycles

Insights from the Panel:

“From our perspective, its really about the retail fundamentals and not as much as market timing. If you believe in the shopping center and don’t over-leverage, the market will come there.”

– Jim Alexander, on timing in the market cycles

Insights from the Panel:

“Grocers have started to change their tune, allowing fitness centers and other tenants previously restricted 10-15 years ago to re-tenant some of these older centers. Grocers have recognized increased traffic in their stores as a result.”

– Jason White, on keeping retail fresh & relevant
